About the Cover
The international ISO 11451-2 standard test is one of the most expensive
and time-consuming EMC tests in the automotive industry. It consists
of generating radiated electromagnetic fields using an antenna with a
radio frequency source capable of producing field strengths ranging from
25V/m to 100V/m up to several GHz.
During the test, all embedded electronics must perform flawlessly.
The cover illustration shows a full virtual ISO 11451-2 test using
Ansys HFSS, including all the equipment used in a real test. Equipment
includes antennas, connectors, absorber elements, and embedded
electronics in the vehicle.
Ansys HFSS uses several exclusive technologies including Ansys Mesh
Fusion and the Domain Decomposition Method that enables the full
simulation of the ISO 11451-2 standard. Automakers are relying on Ansys
HFSS to predict the electronics behavior embedded on vehicles during
the test even before the first physical prototype is available, slashing development time and avoiding costly
changes due to unexpected performance of the electronics during this radiated immunity test.
