Quality-of-Service Architecture for Cloud Computing Networking
The hybrid system is designed to enhanced granularity
of services with service levels such as premium,
guaranteed, better-than-best effort, and best effort. The
needed processing will classify, meter, and queue data
packets to satisfy service layer agreements. This service
improvement can be shown to handle a complex traffic
environment including voice, video, database, http, and
e-mail applications.

Kenneth Robert Owens, Jr. (IEEE
S'89-M'94-SM'03) is Vice-President
of Cloud Security Engineering at
Fiserv, St. Louis. He was previously
a Technical Architect in Network
Research and Strategy at Edward
Jones, a Principle Design Engineer
at Erlang Technology, Inc., a Senior
Data Network Engineer in the
Optical Networking Group of Tellabs, and an engineer in the
MCI Worldcom Advanced Technology Group. His technical
experience has included architecture, analysis, design,
research, and implementation of cloud native patterns; data
center and cloud computing infrastructures; and multi-layered
communication systems. He earned his M.S. and B.S. in
Electrical Engineering from Missouri University of Science and
Technology (then the University of Missouri-Rolla) in 2001
and 1994, respectively. He was inducted by the Gamma
Theta HKN Chapter in 1999.
Steve E. Watkins (IEEE S'80-M'90SM'98)
is a Professor of Electrical
and Computer Engineering at
Missouri University of Science and
Technology (formerly the University
of Missouri-Rolla). He received
a Ph.D. from the University of
Texas at Austin in 1989. He was a
Distinguished Visiting Professor at
the U.S. Air Force Academy, a 2004 IEEE-USA Congressional
Fellow, was a visiting physicist at the Phillips Laboratory
(USAF) at Kirtland Air Force Base and was a visiting scholar
at the Basic Research Laboratories of NTT in Japan. He was
the 2018 President of IEEE-HKN. He was inducted by the
Gamma Theta HKN Chapter in 1982 and has been a faculty
advisor for the Gamma Theta Chapter since 1992.
