over the past three years, and the variation in the impact
factors over the last five years.
The impact factor (IF) of journals is a metric for the
technical quality of publications, it reflects the journal
importance. The evaluation of the IF is based on the
number of citations per paper received over the two past
years following its publication. To improve the journal,
its impact factor is first considered and needs continuous
careful attention from the board of editors of the
journal to monitor and tune a large number of parameters
the main of them are [2]: ensure metadata is up-todate,
improve the journal content, real-time monitoring
of publications' metrics, capitalise on trends and
hot topics, analyse rejected articles and their impact
in competitive journals, identify published articles,
etc. These analyses and follow ups help to improve the
journal and avoid decreasing its IF.
At the short-term level, accepting top quality manuTable

involved delays. These delays can be reduced, although
not significantly, when the trade-off delay quality of the
review is to be adjusted. In addition to the expected
short delay between the submission and decision, the
authors should receive constructive professional technical
comments, not only from reviewers but also from
both the AE and the EiC, to improve their manuscript if
it is not rejected. Otherwise, editors should ensure that
the rejected comments are convincing. By connecting to
the ScholarOne Manuscript portal, authors can follow
the status of their manuscript. They can monitor paper
reviews and immediately determine their status. All delegates
involved in the review process ensured a smooth
and rapid review of the submitted manuscripts. When
a manuscript is received, the EiC, AEIC, AE, and the reviewers
are responsible for performing various tasks.
Among the main publication tasks where I worked
To provide a useful number, Figure 1 presents a set of
charts summarizing the evolution of the major parameters
of the main CASS periodicals and their changes
over the past few years. These charts depict the total
submissions per year, submission to first decision delays,
submission to final decision delays, acceptance
rate, usage, impact factors, examples of the variation in
the submission to the final decision over the past three
years, examples of the variation in the acceptance rate

with all the journal EiCs to improve the periodicals, the
most important ones are as follows:
1) Monitor the status of journals, collect data from
EiCs, and build custom progress reports. Locate
the weak points of each period, if any. Make a formal
analysis presentation and justify to both Excom
and BoG, and then ask for the required support.
To succeed, formal motions and subsequent
votes must occur, and then a follow-up with journal
leaders must be conducted for improvements.
Particular attention must be paid to journals newly
launched over the first three years.
2) Evaluate the required annual page counts of journals
to adjust the functions of submissions. It is
