refreshing theories and concepts, supported by strong, compelling analytical
and empirical analyses. Each paper was
reviewed by at least two reviewers (and
most papers received three reviews
each). Based on rigorous reviews, 1,781
high quality papers were accepted for
oral and poster presentations, including
728 papers accepted for IJCNN 2016,
350 for FUZZ-IEEE 2016, and 703 for
IEEE CEC 2016. The organizing committee is truly humbled by this impressive display of support for the congress.
On 24th July, there were 24 free
tutorials covering a diverse range of topics that offered a unique opportunity to
disseminate in-depth information on
specific topics in computational intelligence. The topics, which spanned a wide
range of topics to cater for all attendees,

included big data, evolutionary computation, natural language processing, fuzzy
systems, optimization, computer vision,
and so on. Extensive effort had been
made to ensure that these tutorials were
free, to generate the most benefit for
budding researchers and students to
exchange ideas with established
researchers in the field.
To cater for the diverse research
interests of all participants, the congress
included five keynotes given by topnotch researchers (Leslie Valiant, Ronald
R.Yager, Marco Dorigo, Ricardo BaezaYates, and Charles C. Ragin) in the field
of computational intelligence. To supplement the keynotes, there were also 15
plenary speeches (five from each respective conference) delivered by worldrenowned scholars: Jürgen Schmidhuber,

Bin He, Marios Polycarpou, Jun Wang,
and Haibo He in the field of neural networks; Frederick E. Petry, James C. Bezdek, Nikhil R. Pal, Jie Lu, and Witold
Pedrycz in the field of fuzzy systems;
Xin Yao, Una-May O'Reilly,Yaochu Jin,
Graham Kendall, and Sanaz Mostaghim
in the field of evolutionary computation. In addition, a public lecture, which
was open for public participation, was
offered by David B. Fogel on the topic
of "Fun and Games with Artificial Intelligence". The keynotes, plenar y
speeches, and the public lecture presented the audience with cutting-edge
research and technologies in the field of
computational intelligence.
To further bolster the technical content, the congress also included six valuable and engaging panel sessions by
