are enthusiastic high school teachers and
talented high school students who are
eager to learn in this new technology
wave, but face frustration in their learning ways. There are the impending needs
of guidance leading them into the learning pathway. Meanwhile, due to the
heap of the broadly mentioned AI techniques attracting dramatic attentions
worldwide, every society includes it as
their main technical focuses. AI has
become the education driving target of
almost every country. Resources are put
into fundamental researches, application
development, and also education. While
the whole world is competing their
progress on AI techniques, the education
is looking for suitable materials to use,
especially for the new learners. The
industrial people are also searching for
opportunities for re-education.
Compared to other committees in
IEEE CIS, Education is a relatively
young committee. We are lucky to
have the previous excellent VP Education's, Jenni Si, Cesare Alippe, and
Simon Lucas. Through their devotions
and great works, CIS has established
various programs offering opportunities for the young generation to gain
knowledge and hone their technique
abilities. With the Graduate Student
Research Grants, CIS student members are provided the opportunities of
scholarship supports for international
visits to fulfill the collaborative
researches on other labs. IEEE CIS also
provides partial supports to local institutes for inviting international speakers
to organize seminars and lectures of
advanced computational intelligence
techniques. Student Games-based
Competitions are regularly organized
to stimulate students' interests on computational intelligence techniques. In
addition to the programs of activities
and grants, subcommittees were also
established in charge of recording key-

notes and lectures from the highly
exper ienced senior members. The
acquired contents retained in CIS
repository serve for education, and also
for evidencing the growth of CIS.
Under the current already established
solid foundation, and in view of the
impending needs, in the coming two
years I would particularly emphasize
enriching the materials for the beginners. In order to have CIS techniques
delivered to a broader target, it is critical
for IEEE CIS to set up an aggressive
program, to enable more people to be
familiar with the CIS techniques. Therefore, I would put my efforts to continue
the previous VP Educations' works and
also especially target the following tasks.
1)	To enrich the materials of CIS
techniques for education
	 In order to facilitate the education
program, it is essential that we have
solid material which can be used to
teach the students in a systematic
approach. To achieve such a purpose, teaching materials as well as
associated video lectures will be set
up accordingly. A learning road
map will also be provided as a
guideline so that the learning can
be done in a step-by-step approach
to get the basic theory and techniques. These materials can be used
and potentially adopted by other
education institutes for a broader
education purpose.
2)	To encourage the education
programs for CIS techniques
	 Another important issue in education is to set up programs such as
summer school to educate our
future and current members. Par-

ticularly, this can include both new
technique advance in researches
and continuing education, and the
education of basic theory to precollege or undergraduate students.
3)	To inspire the interests and the
impression of CIS techniques
	 It is important to attract people's
interests and impressions about the
techniques from CIS. In order to
achieve that, I would encourage the
outreach programs, the competition
programs, and hands-on experiment
programs. Posters and presentation
slides which can help the high
school students and non-domain
experts to better know about CIS
techniques and their applications,
will be designed.
4)	To reach out to high school
students
	 Every country is putting their
efforts to set AI into their education,
including to high school students.
However, the material which is suitable for high school students is deficit. In this task, materials which can
support self-learning for high school
students will be designed. Programs
which are particularly designed for
high school students will be established. Roadmaps will be established
for guiding high school students in
self-learning.
We are in the midst of intensive
competitions. Education is the most
powerful weapon to win a battle. If you
