will be the General Chair for IEEE
CEC in 2023, in Chicago.
As a member of AdCom, I hope to
help improving the visibility of the CIS,
by helping the Society to attract a higher
number of excellent submissions
for its Conferences, in special its flagship
conferences. Also, I hope to work
towards clarifying the role of the CIS
and of CI itself (i.e. vis-à-vis AI), to the
academic, industrial and broader communities.
I believe this goal can be
achieved by teaching the History of CI
and the History of the CIS through my
continuous work as a History Committee
member; by continuing to produce
educational videos and further disseminating
them through YouTube, IEEE.tv,
etc.; and by fomenting the Educational
materials that many of my colleagues in
the EdCom are already producing. But I
would like also to produce new socialmedia
and educational content, such as
the Timeline of events in CI - an interactive
website where visitors can click
on a timeline of events and learn about
upcoming or past facts, watch videos,
learn about the benefits of joining the
CIS, virtually meet CI/CIS people, and
much more.

Jon Garibaldi is Professor
of Computer
Science at the University
of Nottingham,
UK. Since 2016,
he has been Head of
School of Computer
Science; he also leads the Intelligent
Modelling and Analysis Research Group
and was founding Co-Director of the University's
Advanced Data Analysis Centre.
Jon is an IEEE Fellow, has been an
active member of the IEEE Computational
Intelligence Society for many
years, and has been Editor-in-Chief of
IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems
since 2017.
His main research interest is in developing
intelligent techniques to model
human reasoning in uncertain environments,
with a particular emphasis on
the medical domain. His main technical
area of research is in creating new
theory and practical advances in nonstandard
fuzzy sets and systems, such as
type-2 fuzzy sets and systems, to model
human reasoning processes. In addition,
he has interests in data analysis,
particularly of complex and uncertain
data, data mining, clustering and classification,
and in the deployment of
decision support
