Ana M. Madureira received the Ph.D. in
Production and Systems Engineering
degree from Minho University in 2003.
She is Coordinator Professor in Informatics
Engineering
Department at the
Institute of Engineering
(ISEP/P.PORTO)
and has a significant
experience in Computer
Science undergraduate/graduate
courses and in master
and PhD thesis supervision. She has
been involved in more than 20 R&D
projects from which she coordinated 3
national funding in the area of Artificial
Intelligence based Distributed Scheduling
Systems. She has published 4 books,
1 patent and over 150 papers in scientific
conference proceedings, journals
and books.
Current research activity addresses
the application of Optimization and
Artificial Intelligence Techniques to the
design of approaches based on Nature
Inspired Computation for scheduling,
including, Meta-Heuristics, MAS, Autonomic
Computing, Machine Learning
techniques, User modelling, DecisionSupport
Systems, and also Bioinformatics,
Big Data and Data Science/Data
Engineering.

His research interests include evolutionary
computation, multiple
objective decision making, machine
learning, and their real-world applications,
especially in the automotive and
manufacturing industries. Since 1995,
he has pursued industrial applications
of evolutionary computation. With his
co-authors, he received an industrial
impact award at the International
Conference on Industry 4.0 and Smart
Manufacturing (ISM), 2020. Since
2019, he is also a Chief Scientist at
IEEE Computational Intelligence Magazine - May 2022
