the blue triangular wave with the green
reference voltage.
Figure 5(a) shows that the peak of the
triangular wave decreases over time with
the decay of voltage of the supercapacitor modules and, correspondingly, the
duty ratio of switching pulse increases
and amplitude decreases. This demonstrates the prototype yielding a regulated
output corresponding to the decaying
voltages of supercapacitor modules.
CONCLUSION
The voltage of both supercapacitor modules decay over time in a similar manner,
and the prototype yields a regulated output voltage, proving a fully functioning
prototype. The first successful prototype
of a circuit powered solely by supercapacitors has been successfully designed
and demonstrated, giving a start to and
paving the way for a batteryless circuit
technology, especially in applications
working on a constant dc voltage.
In the future, when material scientists and physicists will have designed
high-capacitance microsupercapacitors
with a relatively higher-working voltage, this prototype can be used in place
of batteries in CE devices, eliminating
the use of batteries. A hybrid supercapacitor and battery-cell pack may also
be a future solution for high-capacity
fast charging in smart cars and smart
medical devices [24].
