the students for further reference. Later,
feedback was taken from the students
regarding the interactive session.
There was a positive response from
the students, and their feedback contained
suggestions for improving the effectiveness of the interactive session. The students showed considerable interest in
signing up for IEEE memberships and
were highly enthusiastic about being part
of CESoc Malaysia. They also showed
great interest in volunteering at various
events and came up with ideas and suggestions to improve the quality of the
events conducted.
After these sessions, help desks were
set up on the campus to attract new members. A total of 12 new students signed up
for both IEEE and CESoc memberships
during the interactive sessions. The main
objective of conducting these drives was
achieved and can be seen in the increased
number of CESoc Malaysia memberships
for 2015.
To close, the ExCom members delivered a short presentation, "Engineering as
a Career." The talk was meant to inspire
young professionals to join the engineering profession and provide information on

the diversification of engineering. It also
provided students with a unique opportunity to meet and talk with ExCom members about their engineering career, advice
on breaking into the industry, and other
topics of interests.
In addition, two upcoming CE events
were announced, the International Symposium on Consumer Electronics 2015,
to be held in Madrid (24-26 June 2015),
and the 4th Global Conference on Consumer Electronics 2015, to be held in
Osaka, Japan, from 27-30 October 2015.

Students and faculty members were encouraged to submit their papers to these
conferences. With help from CESoc Malaysia, MAHSA University, and the participants, the membership drive proved to
be a great success and an ideal platform
to nurture interest in CESoc Malaysia.
CESoc Malaysia plans to organize a series of similar membership drive sessions
in the near future.

IEEE Consumer Electronics Magazine
now features up to eight regular columnists
in each issue. The authors of these columns are motivated individuals but there is
still a significant amount of work to remind them of the due dates for each issue
and to proof and provide feedback on their
contributions. This role also includes guiding the material covered by our columnists
to make sure it is aligned with and relevant
to current trends in CE, as well as finding
and initiating new columns.
