Peter Corcoran

Peter Corcoran (Dr.peter.corcoran@
ieee.org) has more than 200 technical
publications, more than 60 peer reviewed
journal papers, and 100 international
peer-reviewed conference papers. He is a coinventor on more
than 200 granted U.S. patents and 35 granted European
patents, with more than 100 patents currently pending. He
has been a university professor for 24 years and a member
of the CE Society for 20 years. Corcoran has completed more
than 20 funded research projects. He is the former vice dean
of research and graduate studies (seven years) in the College
of Engineering and Informatics at National University of
Ireland, Galway. His research interests include biometrics,
unconstrained face iris; advanced face models for tracking,
determining expression, and emotion; and the IoT, cloud
computing and CE devices. He is the cofounder of several
start-up companies, including FotoNation, which is now
the core of the smart-imaging division of DigitalOptics
Corporation Inc. (www.doc.com). He also serves as an industry
consultant and expert witness.
Stuart Lipoff

Stuart "Stu" Lipoff (s.lipoff@ieee.
org) is president of IP Action Partners
Inc., a network of technology and
management consultants providing
knowledge-based services to clients in the telecom, info
technology, media, and electronics industries. His clients include
service providers, equipment OEMs, investors, and other
stakeholders in the cable TV, CE, broadcasting, and wired and
wireless service providers sectors. He has more than 45 years
of experience providing consulting services to the industry. He
is a past president of the IEEE CE Society. Currently, he serves
as vice president of publications for the CE Society and was
previously chair of the Society's Standards Committee. He is
also a member of the executive and program committees for
the IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics
(ICCE). Stu earned B.S. degrees in electrical engineering and
physics, an M.S.E.E. degree, and an M.B.A. degree. His major
accomplishments include the management of the project
that developed the cable modem standards now known as

DOCSIS1.0, leadership of The Next Generation Network
Project Architecture for the cable industry, development of
recommendations for NAB adopted by the U.S. Federal
Communications Commission to mandate phase in of DTV tuners
into new TVs, and leadership of NAB's Radio and TV Discovery
Project. He is a Fellow of the IEEE.

Tom Wilson

Tom Wilson (tomwilson@ieee.org)
earned his M.S. degree from Oxford
University, United Kingdom, and his
Ph.D. degree in computer engineering
from the Technical University of Vienna. He has spent the past
15 years working with technology start-ups and SMEs: the first
half of this time in technical roles and the latter in managerial
positions. He was a cofounder and the first CEO of emotion3D
and currently serves on the management teams at Platomics
and Infotope. Tom is passionate about innovation-driven
value creation and regularly supports young entrepreneurs
with mentoring and workshops. His interests are image/video
and computer vision (emotion3D), genomic data analysis
(Platomics), and privacy and security in networks (Infotope).
Soumya Kanti Datta
Role and responsibility: IoT.
Soumya Kanti Datta (soumya-kanti.
datta@eurecom.fr) is a research engineer
at EURECOM, France, and is working on
the French research projects Smart 4G
Tablet, WL-Box 4G, and DataTweet. His
research focuses on innovation, standardization, generation of
new ideas, and development of next-generation technologies
in mobile computing, computer security, IoT, and machine-tomachine communication. He is an active member of the CE
Society and an associate editor of IEEE Consumer Electronics
Magazine. He has published more than 30 research papers in IEEE
conferences and journals. Soumya has served as the cotrack chair
of ICCE 2015 and has organized and cochaired several special
sessions on IoT in IEEE conferences. He is also serving as a
Technical Program Committee (TPC) member and designated
reviewer for several IEEE conferences. He is a frequent
participant in European Telecommunications Standards
Institute (ETSI) events and regularly gives presentations on
IoT at various events, including for the ETSI. Currently, he is
involved in the oneM2M and the W3C Web of Things Interest
Group and actively contributing to its standard-development
activities. Within the CE Society, Soumya is coordinating the
initiatives on Future Directions on IoT.
Fabrizio Lamberti

augmented reality (VR/AR).

associate professor with the Department of Control and
