has been on the Chapter Executive Committee since then. She
was also the founding chair of the IEEE Hong Kong Robotics
and Automation/Control Systems joint Chapter and has been a
member of the IEEE Hong Kong Section Executive Committee
since 1991. She was the CE Society's second vice president (1996-
1998), vice president of international affairs (2008-2012), and
Distinguished Lecturer chair (2011-2013). She was also an elected
member of the Society Board of Governors (2008-2014).
Yu Yuan
Role and responsibility: standards.
Yu Yuan (y.yuan@ieee.org) is currently
serving as the standards chair and chair
of China operations of the CE Society, the
chair of IEEE SCC42 Transportation, the
secretary and standards chair of the IEEE
Transportation Electrification Community, a board member and
the SCC Coordinator of the IEEE Standards Association Standards
Board, and an associate editor of IEEE Consumer Electronics
Magazine. He has been engaged in extending the CE Society's
influence in recent years. He cofounded the Beijing Chapter
(the CE Society's first Chapter in mainland China) in 2008 and
the Shenzhen Chapter in 2012. He was a key contributor in the
initiation of IEEE CE Society's three conferences: ICCE-China,
IEEE Global High Tech Congress on Electronics, and ICCE-Asia. He
also helped the CE Society establish strategic partnerships with
several important organizations in China. He is currently working
on expanding the Society's presence in China as well as building
the Society's leadership in global standards. Yu is a veteran
researcher and practitioner in the areas of transportation, CE,
and the IoT. He is the founder and president of Cate Global,
a multinational think tank focusing on bringing world-class
expertise to clients and projects in China. He previously worked
at the IBM Research-China and was also a key contributor to
the IBM IoT Technology Center. He is experienced in the patent
process and invention development. He has filed numerous
patents and received many IBM Invention Achievement awards
and IBM High Value Patent awards. Yu has published extensively
in refereed conferences and journals and has organized many
major conferences as general chair or program chair. He is a
senior member of the ACM and a member of Sigma Xi, AAAS,
SAE, ITE, and ASME. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE.
Liang Vincent Wang
Role and responsibility: audio.
Liang Vincent Wang (vincent.wang@
dts.com) earned his B.Eng. degree
from Xi'an Jiaotong University, China,
and his Ph.D. degree from Nanyang
Technological University, Singapore.
He was a researcher in the School of Electrical and Electronic
Engineering, Nanyang Technological University. Since 2011,
he has been with DTS, Inc., where he works as a senior audio
solutions engineer in the DTS Singapore Technology Center.
He has published more than ten journal conference papers
and holds a U.S. patent on audio research. His first research
publication was in the Ninth International Symposium on
Consumer Electronics. He is an associate editor of IEEE Consumer

Electronics Magazine and serves as the secretary for the CE
Society Singapore Chapter. He is a Member of the IEEE.
Oscar Deniz Suarez
Role and responsibility: embedded
computer vision.
Oscar Deniz Suarez's (oscar.deniz@
uclm.es) research interests are focused on
computer vision and pattern recognition.
He is the author of more than 50
refereed papers in journals and conferences. He was a runnerup for the AERFAI award for best Ph.D. work on computer
vision and pattern recognition and received the Image File and
Reformatting Software Challenge Award from Innocentive, Inc.
Oscar was a national finalist for the 2009 Cor Baayen Award. His
work is being used by cutting-edge companies like Existor, Gliif,
Tapmedia, and E-Twenty and has also been added to OpenCV,
the most advanced open-source computer vision library. He has
published books on OpenCV and OpenCV programming for
mobile devices. He has served as visiting researcher at Carnegie
Mellon University, Imperial College London (United Kingdom),
and Leica Biosystems (Ireland). Oscar currently works as an
associate professor at UCLM and contributes to VISILAB. He is
affiliated with the AAAI, SIANI, CEA-IFAC, AEPIA, AERFAI-IAPR,
and The Computer Vision Foundation. He serves as an academic
editor of PLoS ONE and associate editor of IEEE Consumer
Electronics Magazine. He is the coordinator of European project
Eyes of Things, an innovation action funded within the H2020
program, and a reviewer/technical expert for European Union
programs such as Eurostars. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE.
Euee S. Jang
Role and responsibility: video and
multimedia technologies.
Euee S. Jang (profjang@gmail.com)
earned his B.S. degree in computer
engineering at Jeonbuk National
University, Jeonju, South Korea, in 1991
and his M.S.E.E. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and computer
engineering at the State University of New York at Buffalo in
1994 and in 1996, respectively. His Ph.D. topic was robust image
communications. He worked as a research associate at the U.S.
Army Research Laboratory, Adelphi, Maryland, in 1995. After
completing his Ph.D. degree, Euee joined Samsung Advanced
Institute of Technology, where he spent six years in research and
development of various MPEG-4 Visual technologies. He served
as the project editor of the MPEG-4 Visual standard in the MPEG
committee (ISO/IEC JTC1/SC29/WG11) from 1997 to 2000. He also
served as the chair of the Synthetic Natural Hybrid Coding (SNHC)
Subgroup in MPEG from 1999 to 2002. He has coinvented many
MPEG technologies, including shape coding, three-dimensional
mesh compression, interpolator compression, animation
framework extension, and reconfigurable video coding. Since
2002, Euee has served as a professor in the Division of Computer
Science and Engineering, Hanyang University, Seoul, South
Korea. He has authored more than 150 MPEG contribution
papers, more than 30 journal or conference papers, 35 pending
