organizers were also much appreciated. Minor issues were
pointed out with budget accommodation and facilities
(faulty air conditioning).
Most attendees heard of the School either from the
IGARSS 2015 website, or anyway through IGARSS (e.g.
mailing). The co-location with IGARSS surely helped
increasing the number of attendees.
Among the most frequent suggestions in the free-writing part of the questionnaires we found one to enlarge the
hands-on activities section (Figures 10, 11, 12) and increase
their number, and to extend the duration of the School to
three days to accommodate more tutorial-style presentations
and more practical applications. All in all, the school ran
smoothly and greeted satisfied students going back home or
to IGARSS.
ACKNOWLEDGMENT
The author would like to thank, besides the cited sponsors
and speakers, the colleagues and students which helped a
great deal with organizing the school, advertising about it
and having it running smoothly. Many thanks to Roberto

AuThOR iNFORMATiON
Fabio Dell'Acqua is Associate Professor of
Remote Sensing at the University of Pavia,
Italy. He teaches courses in remote sensing
and tutors on average around 5 undergraduate and/or master students for their thesis
activity every year. He has established strong
links with companies in the field of Remote
Sensing applications. His research interests focus on radar data processing and radar/optical data fusion for risk-related applications.
In this area he is/has been participating to several research projects,
both at national and international level (FP6, FP7, INTERREG,
Marie-Curie, Global Earthquake Model). In February 2014 he
co-founded a University spin-off company to commercially exploit
research results in the use of EO data for risk management.
He is Life Member of the Technical and Scientific Board of the
Lombardy Aerospace Industry Cluster; Rector's delegate to this
latter; Earth Observation coordinator of the International Center
for Astronomical and Remote-sensing Observations at the Istituto Universitario di Studi Superiori (IUSS) in Pavia; Principal
for the Global Earthquake Model foundation at the Intergovernmen-tal Organization "Group on Earth Observations GEO. His
publication records currently include over 50 journal papers, over
150 conference papers, and 15 contributions to books.
