with the European Space Agency, European Commission, European Defence Agency, Belgian Defence/Belgian Science Policy frameworks, and several North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Science and Technology Organization programs.
She received the 2017 NATO Science and Technology Award
for her work with SET-190-thermal HSI phenomenology.
Rob Haelterman (robby.haelterman@rma.ac.be) is an
associate professor and project manager in the Department
of Mathematics at the Belgian Royal Military Academy,
Brussels. His research covers anomaly detection in big data
and improvement of the computational cost of iterative algorithms, e.g., in hyperspectral processing and modeling.
He coordinates the defense projects that address the detection of chemical agents and hazmat using hyperspectral
imaging (HSI) and spectropolarimetry and the analysis of
combustion plume through HSI.
Christiaan Perneel (christiaan.perneel@rma.ac.be)
is the head of the Department of Mathematics and the Hyperspectral Unit of the Belgian Royal Military Academy,
Brussels. His research covers pattern recognition, statistical-based analysis, advanced processing for target detection, and fusion-based machine learning. He coordinated
several projects that addressed hyperspectral imaging
(HSI) combined with other sensing capabilities for military applications. These include the HySAR project that
assess hyperspectral imagery, the SAR project for tactical
scenarios, and the C4-23 project that addresses HSI with
various sensing capabilities for urban and harbor security.
