Website Launches

TO FURTHER PROMOTE diversity,
equity, and inclusion in the IEEE
and the engineering profession, the
organization has launched a new
website that contains a wealth of
information, resources, and tools
for members, volunteers, and the
broader community. Developed by
the IEEE Ad Hoc Committee on
Diversity, Inclusion, and Professional
Ethics, this website builds on the
momentum of recent diversity
and inclusion actions in the IEEE,
including adoption of the IEEE
Diversity Statement in 2020 and a
significant overhaul of the reporting
and adjudication process for ethics
violations released earlier this year.
The platform lists a variety of
IEEE resources such as its non discrimination
policy, code of ethics,
and accessibility statement. The
new site also highlights ongoing
efforts by various IEEE groups that
are taking action toward building a
diverse, equitable, and welcoming
Celebrate IEEE Day
on 5 October

FOR THE FIRST time in its 12-year history, IEEE Day-
scheduled for 5 October-will be a hybrid celebration, due
to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. Events will be held
both in person and virtually.
This year's theme is Leveraging Technology for a Better
Tomorrow. IEEE members worldwide are encouraged to
celebrate the ways members collaborate.
IEEE Day commemorates the anniversary of the 1884
meeting in Philadelphia where members of the American
Institute of Electrical Engineers, one of IEEE's two
predecessor societies, gathered for the first time to share
technical ideas.

envision this website as a catalyst to
improve diversity, inclusion and equity
in the IEEE and in the profession. "
The new web presence further
reflects IEEE's longstanding
commitment to engage diverse
perspectives for the betterment of the
engineering profession, ensuring a
welcoming environment that equitably
engages, supports, and recognizes
the diverse individuals dedicated to
advancing technology for the benefit
of humanity.
The day is officially being celebrated on 5 October,
but IEEE sections may mark the event throughout the
first two weeks of October. Some event ideas to consider
include humanitarian activities, an IEEE senior member
roundup, and cultural performances.
To assist those who are planning activities, the IEEE
Day team developed a tool kit to walk organizers through
the process. It is available on the IEEE Day website at
ieeeday.org/toolkit.
Ambassadors will help organizers prepare presentations
and provide them with IEEE brand identity guidelines
as well as be available to support planners on the day
of their event.
