of this year's contest was "Smart
Secure System."
The contest was divided into three
categories and/or tracks:
1) Digital design
* Category topic: TEA and XTEA algorithm in smart secure systems
2) Embedded system design
* Category topic: smart secure
system
3) Hardware security
* Category topic: hardware trojan
in smart secure systems.
There were 31 contest entries from
various universities across Indonesia, including the Bandung Institute
of Technology, the Indonesian Com-
puter University, Lampung University, and Jambi University.
The main event and grand finale
was held on 15 November 2017. Six
finalists were invited to the Bandung
Institute of Technology to present and
demonstrate their designs. In conjunction with the event, Dr. Agus Bejo
from Gadjah Mada University delivered a guest lecture, "Application Specific Instruction-Set Processor (ASIP)
Design Methodologies."
During the final round of the
event, all finalists presented and demonstrated their designs for the judges.

the judges for the digital design category. Farkhad Ihsan Hariadi, Elvayandri Muchtar, and Dr. Widyawardana
Adiprawita were the judges for embedded system category.
In the digital design category, students were asked to design a field programmable gate array (FPGA)-based
smart secure system by implementing a tiny encryption algorithm or an
extended tiny encryption algorithm
(XTEA) for its security system. The
students were required to design the
module using hard description language, implement it on an FPGA, and
then present their working prototype
during the final round. During the
