He focused his discussion on

optoelectronic materials for visible
spectrum devices, high-speed transmitters,
omnidirectional receivers, and
system challenges facing multiplegigabit-per-second
(Gpbs) laserbased
optical wireless communications
(Figure 2). Ooi concluded the
lecture by giving his thoughts on the
future perspectives and potentials
of VLC. After the talk, an interactive
session was held, during which Ooi
answered questions and shared his
experiences (Figure 3).

Bangladesh Joint Chapter
The IEEE ED/SSCS Bangladesh Joint
Chapter recently showcased its commitment
to fostering knowledge exchange
and professional growth in the field of
electrical engineering and solid-state
circuits by organizing two engaging
seminars jointly with the Department
of Electrical and Electronic Engineering,
Bangladesh University of Engineering
and Technology.
The latest seminar, held on 19
August 2023, featured Dr. Vijaykrishnan

Narayanan, the Associate Dean for
Innovation in Engineering and a Distinguished
Professor of Computer
Science and Engineering and Electrical
Engineering at Pennsylvania
State University (Figure 1). Narayanan's
talk centered on the optimization of
visual analytic applications, such as
deep neural networks, graph analytics,
and query support. He highlighted
the challenges posed by the
exponential growth of data volume
and the critical need for cross-disciplinary
co-design, spanning from
materials to architectures, to address

these challenges effectively. This
event was not just informative but
also inspiring as it emphasized the
critical role of co-design across the
stack. With a focus on data analytics
as a key driver for effective decision
making, the event provided a platform
for the attendees to delve into
the evolving landscape of data processing
and analysis.
On 7 August 2023, the other seminar
featured Adnan Hamid, president
and CTO of Breker Verification Systems,
CA, USA. Hamid is recognized
as the inventor of Portable Stimulus,
