industry professionals. These events
were not just about learning; they
were about igniting a passion for
innovation and shaping the future

The UK and Ireland SSCS Chapter Hosts Two Talks
The UK and Ireland SSCS Chapter was
honored to host two exciting talks at
the Tyndall National Institute in Cork
City. On 27 July, Prof. Bram Nauta
[Figure 1(a)] delivered this year's
inaugural talk, titled " Transceiver
Roadmap for 2035 and Beyond, "
which featured some deep and forward-thinking
reflections about the
Digital Object Identifier 10.1109/MSSC.2023.3315885

future of transceiver architectures
and design tradeoffs for tackling
power consumption challenges. The
talk was well received by both the
in-presence audience and the online
audience, with an engaging Q&A session
at the end [Figure 1(c)].
On 4 August, Prof. Mike Flynn
[Figure 1(b)] doubled down with a
very interesting lecture on the work
from his group on an analog compute
engine with multilevel-cell resistive
RAM, which is one the future promising
solutions for highly dense
and efficient computing. Given the
current explosion in artificial intelligence
and machine learning, the
relevancy of the talk was clear to the
lucky audience that profited from
Flynn's experience and clear presenting
style.
