India jointly conducted two highend
workshops during July 2023 at
DA-IICT, Gandhinagar. The " High-End
Workshop on Image Processing and
Its Applications Using VLSI Architectures "
was organized by Dr. Yash
Agrawal and Dr. Manish Khare from
3 to 9 July 2023 [Figure 1(a)-(d)].
The focus of the one-week workshop
was to understand the role of VLSI
in image processing and to explore
the various hardware implementation
technologies for signal processing
in VLSI, e.g., ASIC, FPGA, DSP,

development of image processing
applications, such
as image enhancement,
segmentation and object
detection, multispectral
images, remote sensing,
and real-time data, was
discussed, and handson
sessions using
MATLAB/Python,

The " HighEnd
Workshop
on Image
Processing and
Its Applications
Using VLSI
Architectures "
was organized by
Dr. Yash Agrawal
and Dr. Manish
Khare.
(HDL), and FPGA were conducted.
Another week-long workshop,
titled " High-End Workshop on AI/ML
Algorithms and Applications in VLSI
Design and Technology, " was organized
by Agrawal and Dr. Sreeja
Rajendran from 17 to 22 July 2023
[Figure 2(a)-(c)]. The
one-week workshop
aimed to introduce the
basic concepts of artificial
intelligence and
machine learning (AI/
ML) and their applications
in the area of VLSI design
and technology. The scope
of AI/ML at various levels
of abstraction was discussed.
Hands-on training
on and exposure to different
computer-aided design tools, such
as MATLAB, Python, Cadence, XilinxVerilog,
and FPGA, were provided.
Application-oriented VLSI system
project development using AI/ML
was developed toward the end of
the workshop.
