work. I've also enjoyed participating
on the AdCom and recently took on
the role of treasurer.
FS: I am a member of the SSCS
because of the various technical/
professional development programs
and access to leaders in our field via
conferences, mentorship programs,
and Chapter events. It also gives me
an opportunity to learn new areas
and develop leadership skills outside
of my work. I also like the fact
that it is one avenue where I can
give back and help younger and new
members as a senior member of the
Society. I also get good discounts on
conference registrations! ; -)
AW: In your careers, what single
thing has been your proudest
achievement and why?
FS: My proudest achievements
are getting my Ph.D. degree from UC
Berkeley, becoming a principal engineer
at Intel (it's a really tough committee
evaluation as compared to
those in other companies), getting
my first DARPA contract as principal
investigator, and receiving multiple
ISSCC outstanding paper awards as a
coauthor. Getting these recognitions
has helped to solidify my belief that
if one works really hard and
has challenging goals, then
everything is possible. One
should not be discouraged
by setbacks because, in the
end, overcoming those setbacks
helps you become
a better engineer and
person. I also feel really
proud and happy when
one of my mentees
achieves a significant
milestone or receives
an award. Recently, my
intern received the CICC 2023 Best
Paper Award for research that he has
been doing under my mentorship at
Intel, and this recognition made me
very proud and happy.
KW: My proudest achievement was
