Eugenio is interested in any work
wherein different technologies are
combined to create systems that can
provide innovative solutions to in--
dustry and societal demands. "I am
presently very interested in the inte-
gration between photonics and elec-
tronics, as well as in interfaces for
quantum computers," Eugenio said.
"The challenge of this work is to bring
together different disciplines, scien-
tific cultures, languages, and ways
of thinking. As scientists, we need to
be curious and break the boundaries
that often keep disciplines separate.
By working more together, I am con-
fident we will be able to find better
solutions for the grand challenges

ing a thin-film transistor based on
organic semiconductors) of the first
passive radio-frequency identifica-
tion (RFID) that is capable of sending
a 64-b message and of the first RFID

able to achieve a 13.56-MHz multibit
RF communication. The work was
performed at Phillips Research, Eind-
hoven, and presented at ISSCC 2006.
It was also published in JSSC and was
among the top-cited JSSC papers in
the 2005-2015 decade.
"I am extremely proud of all
accomplishments that my graduate
students and coworkers were able
to achieve with my help, including
the largest circuit ever built with
organic transistors in 2014, the first
printed analog-to-digital converter
(ADC), the first flexible EMG inter-
face, and the first high-resolution
RFID-based printed temperature sen-
sor," Eugenio said.
