Switching gears, Nishimura then
presented an overview of a few key
technologies embedded in the OPF
image sensor. Many details were provided
with regard to each key technology
involved, including the circuit
technique proposed in [2] and ideas
and findings presented earlier in 2013
[3] and 2016 [4] at SSCS conferences.
These circuit techniques relate to
noise cancellation in pixels, which enables
a wide dynamic range, allowing
a faster reset of about 2.5 μs instead of
5 μs and close to 2.5 electronic noise
where it used to be above 13, thus offering
low noise and fast acquisition.
Fast forwarding, the pixels were
integrated in an 8k/4k image sensor,
and the feasibility was demonstrated.
The outcome was further presented
with a picture of Osaka City Central
Public Hall-an attractive, decorated
red brick building-in which the full
details appear very clearly.
This led to a detailed question-andanswer
session. The audience was
generally not familiar with organic
technologies and so was impressed by
the presented capabilities; questions focused
on sensitivity and reliability. The
session lasted about 1 h, and participant
feedback was very positive; attendees
appreciated the breadth of the topics
addressed in the presentation. The audience
also enjoyed the content, clarity,
and Nishimura's engaging way of presenting
and would have liked to be able
to meet in person.
