This was the first in-person ISSCC
after the pandemic, and students
and young professionals alike were
ready to meet and network with
each other. Rami Hijab, a Ph.D. student
at the University of California
Mentors and mentees sharing fun facts from bingo cards during the mentoring event.
" It was a great experience
participating in the WiC-organized
mentoring session
on Sunday afternoon. As an
early-career professional myself,
I found it most useful to
facilitate discussion between
mentees, whether they were
graduate students or seasoned
professionals reentering
the workforce. "
This event was open to all, and due
to social media advertising, also
had attendance from engineers who
came to San Francisco from the Bay
Area just to attend the event.
(UC) Berkeley, said:
" I attended virtually in 2022,
but the ability to connect with
peers, discuss promising research
ideas, and generally
share common ground was
unparalleled in comparison
to the COVID years past. I was
able to meet someone at each
table who shared my interests
in food, culture/heritage, or
sports and hobbies. "
Participants stayed long after the
event had ended to continue their
discussions.

Women in Circuits Corner: SSCS Predoctoral
The SSCS WiC Committee promotes
increased diversity and female participation
in the Society and semiconductor
industry.
Together with
the SSCS, WiC is happy to recognize
promising female students through
two awards: the Predoctoral Achievement
Award with five awardees
and the Student Travel Grant Award
(STGA) with 12 awardees for the 2022-
2023 period. WiC would like to thank
the SSCS Awards Committee and congratulate
the following awardees.
Predoctoral Achievement
Award Recipients
Zhe Liu received her B.S. and M.S.
degrees from Zhejiang University,
Hangzhou, China, in 2014 and 2017,
Achievement Award and Student Travel Grant Award
respectively, and her Ph.D. degree
from Nanyang Technological University
(NTU), Singapore, in December
2022. She is currently a research
fellow at NTU, Singapore. She specializes
in the areas of analog and
radio frequency integrated circuit
(RF IC) design for wireless communications,
especially low-noise
amplifier design with simultaneous
current and noise reduction.
Suneui Park was born in Seoul,
South Korea, and received her B.S.
and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering
from the Ulsan National
Institute of Science and Technology,
Ulsan, South Korea, in 2017 and
2020, respectively. Suneui received
her Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering
from the Korea Advanced
Institute of Science and Technology
(KAIST), Daejeon, Korea, in 2023.
Her research interests include analog
and mixed-signal IC designs,
especially low-power and low-jitter
clock generation circuits.
Richelle L. Smith is currently
pursuing her Ph.D. degree in electrical
engineering at Stanford University
under the guidance of Prof.
Thomas Lee. She received her B.S.
and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering
and electrophysics from the
University of Southern California
and her M.S. degree in electrical engineering
from Stanford University.
Her research interests include energy-efficient
systems, analog and RF
