In summary, the current drawn
by adjacent circuits from the same
power supply injects noise to sensitive analog amplifiers and contaminates the signal. This, if not
addressed by one of the power supply rejection techniques, results in
deterioration of the SNR.

very low impedance at high frequencies (1/~C DD), effectively shorting all
high-frequency currents to ground
and not letting them go through R DD.
This is low-pass filtering the power
supply noise. The higher the capacitance, the lower is the cutoff frequency of this filter.

A third solution is to design a
voltage regulator, that is, a circuit
that takes the noisy power supply
and produces a cleaner one, meaning one that has greatly suppressed
the power supply noise. We will
review an example voltage regulator
in the next article of this series.
