Chapters for the growth of the Society. Rusu presented an update on
the growth in SSCS Chapters, including a summary of the subsidies and
awards available to support Chapter
activities. As of December 2019, the
Society had 113 chapters, with several more in the pipeline. The SSCS
Distinguished Lecturer (DL) program
enables experts from industry and
academia to present, at the Chapter
level, information about the latest
technology developments.
The activities of the Portugal,
Poland, Benelux, U.K./Ireland, Swit-

zerland, and Seattle Chapters were
reviewed. Highlights included DL
visits, meetings with figures from
academia and industry, local technical conferences cosponsored by SSCS
Chapters, and short courses organized
by local Chapters. The IEEE Poland
Chapter organized ESSDERC/ESSCIRC
2019 as well as multiple distinguished
lectures. The IEEE U.K./Ireland Chapter
sponsored the Microelectronics Circuits Center Ireland Technical Conference in March 2019, with 12 technical
papers presented over four sessions.
The Benelux Chapter spawned a Stu-

dent Chapter at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven to promote microelectronics for M.S. and Ph.D. degree students
and bridge the gap between industry
and academia.
The next Chapter chairs meeting was scheduled at the IEEE Asian
Solid-State Circuits Conference in
November 2019 to be followed by
another meeting the International
Solid-State Circuits Conference in
February 2020.
