Nanoscale CMOS Design Course Connects Five
Continents, 20 Countries, and 19 Time Zones

and Ireland Section), in association
with the Circuits and Systems
Research Group of the Department
of Electronics and Computer Engineering,
University of Limerick,
Ireland, hosted another sold-out live-
virtual short course, titled " Analog IC
Design in Nanoscale CMOS, " during
September 2021.
The online course drew 100 analog
design engineers representing semiconductor
tech giants and leading
research organizations from five continents
(Oceania, Asia, Africa, Europe, and
North America), 20 countries (Japan,
Singapore, Australia, India, Saudi
Arabia, Egypt, Israel, Italy, Greece,
the Czech Republic, The Netherlands,
Poland, Germany, Switzerland, Portugal,
Scotland, England, Ireland, Canada,
and the United States), and 19
time zones (from Kanagawa all of the
way to Hawaii) to participate in the
state-of-the-art presentations by the
distinguished lecturer Prof. Tony Chan
Carusone (University of Toronto). A
record-breaking number of female participants
registered for the course.
Prof. Chan Carusone is a professor
with the Department of Electrical and
Computer Engineering at the University
of Toronto. He has coauthored the
popular textbooks Analog Integrated
Circuit Design and Microelectronic
Circuits and several best papers at
various IEEE conferences. Prof. Chan
Carusone was the editor-in-chief of
Digital Object Identifier 10.1109/MSSC.2021.3128242

IEEE International Solid-State Circuits
Conference Technical Program Committee
in 2017-2021.
The course addressed the design
of high-performance analog circuits in
nanoscale CMOS technologies (<30 nm),
