about 50 saplings from June to November
2020. Participants in " Green
Rally " consisted of IEEE students
and professional members as well
as professors and students of the
department of Electrical and Electronics
Engineering. " Green Rally "
was a success and the SBC plans to
have another event but on a larger
scale in 2021.
Chennai SBC hosted other events
over the past couple of months. One
memorable event was " ADZAP " in
December 2020, which focused on
improving the marketing skills of
the future society so that students
have the needed skills to begin entering
the industry. Another event
was " Technical Gaming, " which
brought out the technical excellence
of students through fantasy
games and marked the importance
of " International Day of Education. "
In February 2021, the IEEE PELS
Chennai SBC hosted " PELZ FEAT " ,
which was to celebrate the " International
Day of Women and Girls
in Science. "
The IEEE PELS Chennai SBC is
pleased with the success of these
events and looks forward to planning
more in the future.

Holds WiE-IES Workshop
D
uring the IEEE International
Conference on Industrial
Technology (ICIT) in Valencia,
Italy on 11 March 2021, the Joint
IEEE Power Electronics Society/
Industrial Electronics Society (PELS/
IES) Spanish Chapter held the
Women in Engineering-Industrial
Electronics Society (WiE-IES) workshop.
The core objective was to show
the different professional careers
available to women so that there can

be more female participation in scientific
and technical activities.
There were three sessions for
the workshop. Of the three, the second
session featured three Spanish
female researchers who are dedicated
to the field of power electronics:
Dr. Regina Ramos (Technical
University of Madrid), Prof. Marta
Hernando (University of Oveido),
and Prof. Cristina Fernandez (University
Car los III of Madrid). Each
speaker shared with the audience
thei r professional backgrounds
a long with relevant aspects of

their research in the field of power
electronics.
Over 50 participants, made up
of both professiona ls and students,
attended the virtual event.
