ecosystem to propel into the mainstream. It comprises many
members of IEEE PELS and ideally-suited to tackle these
multidimensional challenges.
Starting with sponsoring Industry Sessions for years at
the IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition
(APEC), live, functional demos of EH-enabled IoT/
IIoT/wearable/sensor solutions were added to complement
the technical talks demonstrating this is tangible stuff performing
real-world applications. The next level was in May
2018 with a 3-day workshop called EnerHarv (http://www
.enerharv.com/), hosted by Tyndall (https://www.tyndall
.ie/) in Ireland [7]. EnerHarv proved a palpable inflection
point for members of the Power IoT/EH ecosystems to
increase collaboration and successfully bring solutions
to the mainstream. Thanks to COVID, we are excited to
announce the biennial EnerHarv is returning April 2022,
hosted by the ASSIST Center (https://assistcenter.org/) of
NC State University in Raleigh, NC, USA.
Another major, recent EHC achievement is a white paper
addressing " Energy Harvesting for a Green Internet of
Things " compiled by world leading experts in their respective
fields and led by Thomas Becker of Thobecore and Michalis
Kiziroglou of Imperial College London, U.K. For more
