(IoT) that was held on 15 and 22 March

The RAS Student Branch
Chapter of St. Joseph's Institute of Technology held a
technical seminar, Robotics
and Artificial Intelligence, on
12 March 2018. The seminar
was conducted by Dr. P.V.
Manivanan; it provided an
opportunity for students to
learn the basics of robotics, sensors, actuators, mechanisms.
AI. Dr. Manivanan's address
elaborated on advanced features in robotics and AI.

Technical Event on
Obstacle-Avoiding Robots
The Department of Electronics
and Communications Engineering and the RAS Student
Branch Chapter, St. Joseph's
Institute of Technology, conducted an event, ObstacleAvoiding Robot, on 23 March
2018. The participants designed a robot that could automatically sense and overcome
obstacles in its path (Figure 5).
It contained a microcontroller
to process data and ultrasonic sensors
to detect the obstacles in its path. Each
team had a maximum of three members.
The senior students conducted training
sessions on constructing the robot. Five
teams participated in the event. On the
basis of the performance, two teams
entered the finals.
