Welcome to the New RAS Technical
Committee on Digital Manufacturing
and Human-Centered Automation

T

he Technical Committee (TC)
on Digital Manufacturing
and Human-Centered Auto-
mation was approved by the
IEEE Robotics and Automation Society
(RAS) Administrative Committee at
its May meeting held in Brisbane,
Australia. The new TC aims to serve as
a reference forum promoting research,
development, and innovation under
two constitutive subfields:

Digital manufacturing: This subfield
embraces and represents the princi-
ples of total connection in the factory,
integrating automation of produc-
tion, stock management, product
orders, and labor force management
Sustainable production: This sub-
field encapsulates corobotics, circu-
lar economy, design for disassembly
and waste management, and ori-
entation to eco-green social res-
ponsibility that can be termed
bioautomation, including human-
centered and environmentally friend-
ly automation.

The expected impact of this new TC
is to increase the efficiency and compet-
itiveness of industrial processes through
the use of interconnected and collabora-
tive robots.
The new TC cochairs are as follows:

lina. I'm currently pursuing my Ph.D.
degree at Clemson in mobile robotics

and autonomous vehicle technologies.
My research interests focus on the dy-
namics and control of Segway-based
mobile manipulators and the safe op-
eration of autonomous vehicles at their
dynamic limits. I recently completed
an internship at Mitsubishi Electric
Research Laboratories, Cambridge,
Massachusetts, working on vehicle
stability control and vehicle network
communication security.
I also serve as treasurer of the RAS
chapter at Clemson, and I look forward
to helping grow the RAS student com-
munity and achieve its missions. My
hobbies include cars, bikes, martial
arts, and movies.
