Bjorn Ursin (bjorn.ursin@ntnu.no) received his M.Sc. and
Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the Norwegian
Institute of Technology (NTH), Trondheim, in 1970 and 1976,
respectively. In 1971, he was awarded a Diplome d'Etudes
Approfondies in applied mathematics from the University of
Grenoble, France. He joined NTH [now the Norwegian
University of Science and Technology (NTNU)] as a professor
of applied geophysics in 1989. He has been a professor emeritus
at NTNU since 2013 and a visiting research professor at the
Federal University of Bahia in Salvador, Brazil, since 2014. His
research interests are in modeling, imaging, and inversion of
seismic and electromagnetic data and digital signal processing
applied to geophysical data. He is the recipient of numerous
awards and prizes. He is a Life Senior Member of the IEEE.
