He received the Andrew P. Sage Best Transactions Paper
Award from the IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics Society in 2011 and the Meritorious Service Award from the
IEEE Computational Intelligence Society in 2014. He was
the founding editor-in-chief of IEEE Computational Intelligence Magazine from 2006 to 2009 and an associate editor
of IEEE Control Systems Magazine; IEEE Transactions on
Control Systems Technology, Automatica, Mechantronics; IEEE
Transactions On Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, Parts A
and B; and IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks. He is a
Fellow of the IEEE.
Witold Kinsner (witold.kinsner@umanitoba.ca) earned
his Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from
McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, in 1974. He
is a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer
Engineering, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada. Since
1971, he has been very active at all IEEE levels. He was IEEE
Canada president for 2016-2017 and IEEE Region 7 director/
delegate for 2016-2017. He was elected IEEE vice president of
the educational activities board for 2018 and was reelected
for 2019. He is a Life Senior Member of the IEEE; a fellow of
the Engineering Institute of Canada, Engineers Canada, and
Canadian Academy of Engineering; a member of ACM; and a
professional engineer with the Association of Professional
Engineers and Geoscientists of the Province of Manitoba.
