Yo-Ping Huang: Vice
President Conferences
and Meetings

Yo-Ping Huang
Huang has been
the president of
the National Penghu
University
of Science and
Technology, Penghu,
Taiwan, since
1 August 2021. He is also a chair professor
in the Department of Electrical
Engineering, National Taipei University
of Technology, Taipei, Taiwan,
where he served as the secretary
general for three years. Prof. Huang
also holds an honorary chair professorship
at the National Taipei University
and the Chaoyang University of
Technology, Taiwan, and an honorary
professorship at Óbuda University,
Hungary. He was the CEO of the Joint
Commission of Technological and
Vocational College Admission Committee,
Taiwan, for four years.
He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees
in electrical engineering from
Tatung University, Taipei. After two
years of compulsory military service
and one year as a lecturer in a college,
he received a research assistantship to
pursue his doctoral study and received
his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering
from Texas Tech University, Lubbock,
Texas, United States. Then, he reDigital

turned to Taiwan to start his teaching,
research, and service career. He was
the founding chair of the Computer Science
and Information Engineering Department
at Dayeh University for three
years and also was the director of the
Computer Center at the same institution.
Then, he served as the department
chair of the Computer Science and Engineering
Department and was promoted
to the dean of the College of Electrical
Engineering and Computer Science
and the dean of research and development
at Tatung University, Taipei.
His current research interests include
Artificial Intelligence of Things
systems design and applications, fuzzy
modeling, deep learning modeling, intelligent
control, and tiny defect detection.
He has published more than 380
journal and conference articles, and
he holds eight patents in these areas.
Prof. Huang's volunteer service
to the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics
Society (SMCS) includes
being the SMCS vice president for
conferences and meetings, chair of
the SMCS Technical Committee on Intelligent
Transportation Systems, and
the SMCS Distinguished Lecturer. He
was a member of the SMCS Board of
Governors president of the Taiwan
Association of Systems Science and
Engineering, chair of the SMCS Taipei
Chapter, and chair of the IEEE
Computational Intelligence Society
Taipei Chapter. He received the Most
Active TC Award and Outstanding
Chapter Award from the SMCS and
IEEE SYSTEMS, MAN, & CYBERNETICS MAGAZINE July 2022
the Outstanding Chapter Award from
the IEEE Taipei Section in 2019, 2016,
and 2016, respectively.
Currently, Prof. Huang is an associate
editor of IEEE Transactions on
Systems, Man, and Cybernetics: Systems;
International Journal of Fuzzy
Systems; IEEE Transactions on Artificial
Intelligence; and Processes. He
also actively organizes many international
and national conferences, serving
as honorary general chair, general
chair, program chair, and registration
chair. Furthermore, he has been invited
to deliver keynote speeches at
several international conferences.
Prof. Huang is an IEEE Fellow,
an Institution of Engineering and
Technology (IET) Fellow, a Chinese
Automatic Control Society Fellow,
and an International Association of
Grey System and Uncertain Analysis
Fellow. He is the recipient of the
Outstanding Research Award from
the Ministry of Science and Technology,
Taiwan; Outstanding Engineering
Professor from the Chinese Institute
of Engineers; and the IoT Innovative
Application Award from the Pan Wen
Yuan Foundation.

Herrera-Viedma
received
his M.S.
degree in 1993 and
his Ph.D. degree
in 1996, both in
computer science,
from the University
of Granada
(UGR), Spain. He is a full professor in
computer science and artificial intelligence
(AI) at the UGR since 2007,
and currently, he is the vice president
for research and knowledge transfer
at the UGR, a position he has held
since June 2015.
