The event consisted of multiple
three-hour sessions over the course
of three days. Participants also
had the opportunity to share their
impressions, talk with lecturers,
and mingle during coffee breaks and
round table lunches.

The first day started out with registration and an introductory speech
by event Chairman Dr. Cristian Andriesei (vice chairman of SSCS-037, from
"Gheorghe Asachi" Technical University of Iasi). He welcomed the attendees, described the RFIC Summer
School initiative, and talked about
the SSCS. The event cochair, Prof.
Cristian Ravariu (SSCS-037 chairman,
Polytechnic University of Bucharest),
presided over the opening ceremony
by presenting the attendees with
benefits of SSCS membership. Prof.

Ravariu also described the activities
and perspectives within the IEEE SSCS
Romanian Chapter.
The morning sessions consisted of
two lectures about spectrum analysis
and real-time measurements: "RealTime Concept for Spectrum Analysis
and Oscilloscopes" presented by Arno
Holl and "Vector Network Analysis:
R&S High-End Solutions" presented
by Herwig Pokorny. Holl and Pokorny
are both engineers at the well-known
company Rhode & Schwarz. The company, based in Austria, was also a private sponsor of the event.
The afternoon program continued with an extensive tutorial on RF
power amplifiers presented by Prof.
Farid Temcamani of École Nationale
Supérieure de l'Electronique et de
ses Aplications (ENSEA) from Cergy,
France. His first module, "RF Power
Amplifiers I," was a review covering
the electron devices evolution, limitations, and constraints when reporting to high-frequency demands. A
tutorial on RF power amplifiers was a
necessity for the Romanian research
community. The talk was especially
important because it covered topics that are not well known and
researched in Romania.
The second day of the summer
school consisted of two tutorials
focused on power amplifiers presented by Prof. Farid Temcamani. In
between Prof. Temcamani's sessions
was an online tutorial (via Skype) on
RFID technology presented by Dr.
Apostolos Georgiadis, from Centre
Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de
Catalunya (CTTC), Barcelona, Spain.
Since the RFID community is almost
nonexistent in Romania, Dr. Georgiadis's presentation on "Energy Harvesting and Wireless Power Transfer
for Autonomous Wireless Sensors
and RFIDs" represented a major step
in improving the interest of young
engineers who have the potential to
share the future of humanity and the
quality of life.
The third day of the summer school
started with a session dedicated to RF
power amplifiers, "RF Power Amplifiers-VI", presented by Prof. Farid
Temcamani. The day continued with
