Inc. Part 2 was recorded on August 17
by Prof. Pavan Hanumolu, the University
of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, "Applications of Time-based Circuits in Data
Conversion, Filtering, and Control."
Hanumolu started his talk with a summary of part 1 and later covered different
applications such as data conversion,

filtering, and control in power management. For the last part of the seminar,
he covered the recent publications on
time-based circuits from his research
group at the University of Illinois,
Urbana-Champaign. A list of related
references and recent publications, done
in collaboration with Dr. Mike Perrott
and Dr. Straayer, was provided.

Abstract
In the second part of this two-part
series on time-based circuits, I will present time-based signal representation
as an alternative to classical voltage or

charge-based signal representations.
I will then show how this representation enables the implementation of
fundamental building blocks, such
as integrators using mostly digital circuits. Finally, I will present case studies of time-based analog filters, analog
to digital converters, and direct currentdirect current converters to highlight
the advantages, opportunities, and
drawbacks of the time-based approach.

Upcoming Fall Colloquium
On Thursday, 12 October 2017, the
Baltimore Chapter held their 6th
Annual Fall Colloquium, with the
topic "Flexible and Wearable Electronics." The event, sponsored by

the EDS's Mini Colloquia Program, addressed the interests of local industry, government, and academia. The
colloquium was held at the American
