An in-depth all-day short course,
"Hardware Approaches to Machine
Learning and Inference," will be held
on Thursday, 15 February. This course
be presented by renowned academic
researchers (see Table 3 for details).
The core of the conference will include more than 25 technical sessions
covering the latest developments in
the design of circuits and systems
involving silicon or other nanotechnologies in the areas of analog; data
converters; digital architectures
and systems; digital circuits; imagers, sensors, microelectromechanical
systems, medical devices and displays; memory; power management;
RF circuits and wireless systems; technology directions; and wireline. These
sessions will be held 12-14 February.
Selected papers presented in the technical sessions will be further expanded
during the demonstration sessions that

showcase both academic- and industryled submissions, in the early evenings
of 12-13 February.
A continuing initiative for students
is the Student Research Preview, to be
held on the evening of Sunday, 11 February, and consisting of short presentations introducing an all-evening poster
session. The same evening there will
also be a workshop on circuits for social
good, which will highlight various ways
that circuits can help address some of
the most important challenges facing society today, ranging from health
care to energy conservation. The workshop includes speakers from industry, academia, and startups as well as
interactive roundtable discussions on
topics such as machine learning, medical
devices, next-generation communications, and security.
This year, for the first time, ISSCC
will hold an Industry Showcase event

IEEE SOLID-STATE CIRCUITS MAGAZINE

on Monday evening, 12 February,
where companies will provide short
"pitches" on their technology/product
innovation, followed by an interactive
session with attendees at company
booths and tables.
The conference will also continue
the popular tradition of evening
panels on Monday, 12 February,
and Tuesday, 13 February, where
experts, often of opposing views,
discuss topics that range from the
lighthearted to the controversial (but
always informative and entertaining!). This year's panels are "Figuresof-Merit on Trial," "Lessons Learned
-Great Circuits That Didn't Work
(Oops, If Only I Had Known!)," and
"Can Artificial Intelligence Replace
My Job?-The Dawn of a New IC
Industry with AI."
Overall, the conference will provide a variety of opportunities for
attendees to interact one on one with
authors during interviews at the end
of the day that their presentation is
given as well as during breakout
sessions and evening social hours.
During the evening social hours,
ISSCC features alumni gatherings
of particular universities as well as
book displays by various publishers
highlighting the latest and classical
technical books.
Correspondingly, ISSCC continues
to be the premier conference of the
IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society (SSCS).
IEEE Members who are a lso SSCS
members will receive a US$40 credit
toward conference fees applied at the
time of registration.
