SSCS-Utah Chapter Holds Fall Seminar

The Utah Chapter of the IEEE SolidState Circuits Society (SSCS) held its
fall seminar on 23 October 2015 at
Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah.
Pavan Hanumolu, a 2016 Distinguished
Lecturer (DL) from the University of
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, presented over two sessions. His morning lecture, "Time-Based ADC Fundamentals," developed theory behind the
use of voltage-controlled oscillators
(VCOs) in feedforward delta-sigma
converters. Prof. Hanumolu's afternoon lecture, "Advanced Time-Based
Digital Object Identifier 10.1109/MSSC.2016.2546519

morning lecture.
Chapter election results were
also announced at the seminar. For
the 2016 term, Jeffrey Walling and
David Willis were elected as chair
and secretary, respectively. Jeffrey
Walling is an assistant professor of
electrical and computer engineering at the University of Utah, and
David Willis is an IC system design
engineer at Cirque Corporation in
Salt Lake City.
The SSCS-Utah Chapter represents
northern Utah's three major universities, Brigham Young University, the

University of Utah, and Utah State
University, and several local design
companies including Cirque Corporation, ON Semiconductor, and Quartzdyne. With a small but active membership, SSCS-Utah holds seminars twice
year, which are well attended by industry and academia.
To encourage student participation, seminars are held at local
universities. The next seminar will
be take place in early 2016 at the
University of Utah.
