Silicon Photonic Microring
Resonator-Based Transceivers
for Compact WDM
Optical Interconnects
The rapid growth of input/output
bandwidth in applications such as data
centers and supercomputers motivate the development of interconnect

architectures that can dramatically
scale bandwidth density in an energyefficient manner. This talk examines
the potential of silicon photonic micro
ring resonator-based optical transceivers for compact wavelength-division
multiplexing optical interconnects.
An overview of the photonic devices
typically found in a ring-resonator
optical interconnect platform is provided, and the design of transceiver

circuits that address key challenges
related to the modulators and drop
filters are described. The possibility
of further improvements in bandwidth density via efficient implementations of >50Gb/s PAM4 modulation
with the micro ring modulators
is detailed.

(SSCS) Seoul Chapter organized the
technical seminar, "Migrating Analog/
Mixed-Signal (AMS) Designs to FinFET
Technology," by Dr. Alvin L.S. Loke,
Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. The
lecture was held on 10 March 2017
at Hongik Universit y, Seoul, a n d
attracted a number of students, researchers, and engineers from academia and industry in the Republic
of Korea.
The lecture started with the fundamentals of the MOSFET/FinFET and
