the First SSCS Initiative on Technology Entrepreneurship

The IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society
(SSCS) Romania Chapter organized
"Topics on Hardware Entrepreneurship" on 6 September 2016, which
focused on promoting science and
technology among youth from an
entrepreneurship perspective.
The event was organized in partnership with "Roman-Voda" National
College (CNRV) and took place in Roman, a city with ancient historical
traces dating back to 1392 and the
source of brilliant young students,
many of whom are spread around
the world, either admitted to top universities, employed by big corporations, or running their own startup
businesses. The event chair was Prof.
Constantin Ostafe, CNRV professor of
physics. Prof. Ostafe is an educator
who is open to the new trends of technology, practical implementations,
and interdisciplinary approaches
that currently exist in many science
fields. This much-needed event represented a first for the SSCS Romania
Chapter, regionally and nationally.
The topic of hardware entrepreneur-

ship is not being covered by any
Romanian university curricula or
even business conferences organized
in Romania.
Cristian Andriesei, vice-chair of
the SSCS Romania Chapter and responsible for industry relations, was
in charge of presenting a four-hour
tutorial focused on technology entrepreneurship. The tutorial covered
a large number of scientific and business resources, offering many valuable
insights from an entrepreneurship
perspective. As expected, the technology perception among the youth
