Computational Social Systems
* Develop tools, systems and models

Electronic Warfare Research
Engineer (Ground/Maritime/
Surface/Airborne EW)
* Perform RF and EO receiver
technology development
(ESM, RWR, and MWR)
* Develop RF and EO electronic
attack systems and technologies
* Perform modeling, simulation,
analysis and concept development
of RF electronic warfare systems
utilizing expertise in threat systems
analysis (ESAMS, Suppressor,
Alarm, Brawler, etc.)
* Develop analytical tools using
MATLAB and similar programs
Algorithm Developer/Radar Systems
* Algorithms for moving target
detection, through-the-wall sensors,
aerospace radar systems for ISR
and/or fire-control, tracking, and
multi-source fusion, radar payloads,
and technology prototyping
Digital Systems
* Advanced FPGA programming,
signal processing, embedded
computing, system-on-a-chip,
high-performance computing,
network programming, and highspeed digital circuit design
Applied Electromagnetics
(EM) and Antennas
* Develop and lead research in
antenna system design, analysis,
integration and testing
* Perform design, analysis, and
testing of antenna, elements, matching
networks, and beamformers
* Perform installed system
performance analysis, modeling
and simulation and assessment
* Conduct EM scattering
and propagation research and
perform EM interference and
compatibility analysis and testing
* Missile defense radar

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at
Carnegie Mellon has Tenure Track Faculty Openings.
Exceptional candidates in all areas of Electrical and
Computer Engineering will be given serious consideration, but especially those in applied physics,
nanotechnology, controls and energy systems.
The College of Engineering and the Department of Electrical
and Computer Engineering are both ranked among the top
programs in the United States both at the undergraduate
and graduate level. The faculty has strong ties with many
multidisciplinary centers and institutes such as the Institute
for Complex Engineered Systems (graduated NSF ERC),
Software Engineering Institute, Human Computer Interaction Institute, The Robotics Institute, and the Information
Networking Institute. The department is home to several
multidisciplinary centers and laboratories such as the Data
Storage Systems Center (Graduated NSF ERC), Center for
Silicon System Implementation, Microelectromechanical
Systems Laboratory, SRC Smart Grid Research Center, the
Parallel Data Laboratory, and the Computer Architecture Lab
at Carnegie Mellon. Faculty members in the Department
of Electrical and Computer Engineering also have ties and
collaborations with colleagues around the world through a
number of formal research and educational programs. The
department has extensive experimental and computing infrastructure. The department currently maintains state of the art
nanofabrication facilities and will be significantly expanding
these in both capability and scale within the next few years.
seeking individuals for faculty positions at the Assistant
Professor rank; however, under unusual circumstances and
commensurate with the qualifications of the individuals,
appointments may be made at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. Applicants must have earned a doctorate
in a related area by the date of appointment. Applications
