Applications and nominations are invited
for the position of William Hansen Hall/
LaBORS Endowed Chair in the Electrical and
Computer Engineering (EECE) Department at
the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Ideal
candidates will work to develop an expanded
research and education portfolio in the area of
power engineering. The position is expected
to be filled at the rank of Full Professor,
however, outstanding candidates at the rank
of Associate Professor will also be considered.
The EECE Department is fully ABET accredited
and has eleven faculty and approximately 300
students. The department has an established
research enterprise that continues to grow
and is associated with several R&D centers.
It is envisioned that the position will assist
in guiding the department through continued
growth in student and faculty numbers, research
expenditures, and national exposure. The
department offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees.
It is desirable for the ideal candidate to have a
Ph.D. in electrical or computer engineering or
a Ph.D. in a closely related field. In particular,
expertise in power engineering inclusive

of integrating computational theory with
application in supporting some aspect of power
systems is of great interest. Example R&D areas
of particular interest are smart grid systems,
alternative energy, power grid optimization,
power generation, and power storage.
The UL Lafayette College of Engineering is one
of the fastest growing colleges of engineering
in the US with a total student population of
approximately 3,000 and offers degrees at all
levels. The university is located in Lafayette,
LA, an exciting community within Louisiana's
beautiful Cajun Country. The university is the
second largest in Louisiana with a student
population over 18,000 and ranked as a Carnegie
Research University with high research activity.

SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER
Bombardier Transportation (Holdings) USA, Inc. seeks a
Senior Software Engineer to work in Pittsburgh, PA and to
design and code software in C++ and C# using object-oriented
techniques on Microsoft Windows .NET platform according
to customers' requirements. Application development using
ICONICS SCADA package, DCOM, OPC DA, VB, XML, and SQL
Server to develop central control system software for automated
metro systems. Monitor engineering progress, including design
installation, software configuration management, and quality
test plans and procedures. Activities span all lifecycle stages of
software development: requirements, design, implementation,
engineering testing, acceptance, and commissioning.
Must have a Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer
Science or any engineering discipline plus seven (7) years of
work experience in any software development occupation.
Experience must include: [1] C++ and C#; [2] ICONICS SCADA
package; [3] DCOM; [4] OPC DA; [5] Visual Basic; [6] XML; and
[7] SQL Server. Travel is required one-two times per year to
Brazil to support commissioning of project.
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or any engineering
discipline and eight (8) years of post-baccalaureate,
progressively responsible work experience in any software
development occupation will be accepted in lieu of a Master's
degree in Computer Science or any engineering discipline and
seven (7) years of work experience in any software development
occupation.
