Tenure Track Position:
Communications and
Signal Processing
The Department of Electrical and Microelectronic Engineering
at the Rochester Institute of Technology invites applications
from candidates in the broad area of Communications and
Signal Processing. Appointment to this tenure-track position
will be at the Assistant Professor level. Applicants must
have a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related
field, with specialization in Communications and Signal
Processing, and must have published in refereed journals
based on the dissertation and any subsequent post-doctoral
work. Candidates must have strong aptitude and interest in
undergraduate and graduate teaching; strong potential for
establishing and conducting sponsored research; satisfactory
written and oral communication skills; and ability to contribute
in meaningful ways to the university's continuing commitment
to cultural diversity, pluralism and individual differences.
The Electrical and Microelectronic Engineering department
has established its reputation as a preeminent program
in undergraduate engineering education. The department
offers BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering and
Microelectronic Engineering programs, with concentrations in
communications, digital/computer systems, robotics, controls,
integrated devices/circuits, electromagnetic fields, MEMs,
and signal/image/video processing. Faculty members also
contribute to PhD programs in Engineering, Microsystems
Engineering, Imaging Science, and Computer and Information

L. Stanley Pigman Endowed Chair
in Power
The University of Kentucky College of Engineering is seeking
outstanding candidates for the L. Stanley Pigman Endowed
Chair in Power. The Endowed Chair will have an opportunity
to participate in the hiring of a junior faculty member also in
power. The Chair will be expected to develop and collaborate
in internationally recognized research in areas related to
power, and to contribute to the College's programs through
research, teaching, and service.
The University of Kentucky has a strong history of research
and education in power and energy and an excellent
environment for collaboration. The Power and Energy
Institute of Kentucky (PEIK) was created in 2010 under
support from the US Department of Energy and includes 19
associated faculty members covering a broad range of power
and energy areas. PEIK has strong collaboration with area
utilities and industry and offers multidisciplinary power
curricula across the college with over 30 courses in power and
energy. The university's Center for Applied Energy Research
(CAER) is an applied research and development center with an
international reputation and over 100 research staff. The
Kentucky-Argonne Battery Manufacturing Research and
Development Center is located in Lexington and has state-ofthe-art laboratories for energy storage research.
The University of Kentucky is a major public research
institution. In the previous fiscal year, it had over $259 million
in research grants and contracts, and ranked 40th among
public institutions in 2012 NSF research funding rankings. It
ranked 30th in startup companies among public universities in
2012. The university has 30,000 students, and the college has
over 3600 students in undergraduate and graduate programs
across seven departments.

The Kate Gleason College of Engineering has been ranked 27th
among "The World's Best Engineering Schools," according to
Business Insider magazine. RIT is one of the largest private
universities in the U.S., and has been recognized on The
Chronicle of Higher Education's "Great Colleges to Work For"
list for four years. Rochester has a diverse population, ranks
3rd best metropolitan region for Raising a Family" by Forbes
Magazine and 6th among 379 metropolitan areas as "Best
Places to Live in America" by Places Rated Almanac.
