merits the rank of Professor
with tenure and who has an
internationally recognized
record of outstanding
scholarship. Preferred
research expertise includes
high-performance computing,
networking, cybersecurity,
software/data-enabled science, and ubiquitous computing;
however, outstanding candidates in other areas of computing
will be considered. The person filling the Chair will hold a
faculty position in the Holcombe Department of Electrical and
Computer Engineering. A joint appointment with the School
of Computing may also be possible. The holder of the Chair
is expected to maintain affiliation and close collaboration
with computing researchers across the campus, including
participation in the Clemson University CyberInstitute.

a strong research track
record in the area of
power electronics; however, outstanding candidates in
areas such as power systems (e.g., distribution, analysis,
transmission, protection, dynamics, etc.) and smart grid
technology (e.g., new devices/systems, grid integration
of renewables, grid security, etc.) will also be considered.

The CyberInstitute is a multi-disciplinary, universitywide research initiative spanning topics that address or
utilize cyberinfrastructure. The Holcombe Department of
Electrical and Computer Engineering is one of the largest
and most active at Clemson, with over 40 faculty members,
approximately 425 undergraduates and 175 graduate students.
The School of Computing includes 35 faculty members,
approximately 340 undergraduates and 200 graduate students.

members of the faculty are known internationally, and
among our ranks are numerous IEEE Fellows, two
endowed chairs, and seven named professorships.
The ECE Department is taking an active role in energy
related initiatives across the campus such as Clemson's
net-zero campus initiative and a large scale grid
simulator associated with Clemson's wind-turbine
drive-train test facility located in Charleston, SC.

Clemson University is the land-grant institution
for the State of South Carolina enrolling
approximately 15,000 undergraduates and
4,000 graduate students. Five interdisciplinary
colleges house strong programs in architecture,
engineering, science, agriculture, business,
social sciences, arts and education. A faculty
of 1,400 and staff of 3,000 support 84
undergraduate degree offerings, 73 master's
degree programs and 40 Ph.D. programs. An
annual operating budget of approximately
$815 million and an endowment of $416
million fund programs and operations.
The University's research enterprise has
more than doubled over a 10-year period to
its current level of $187 million in annual
external awards. Research and economic
development activities are enhanced by
public-private partnerships at three innovation

campuses and six research and education
centers located throughout South Carolina.
