ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR, TENURE-TRACK
Temple University, designated a Carnegie Research Universities (high

research activity) institution, is a comprehensive public university
located in Philadelphia, PA. The campus is racially and ethnically diverse, with more than 39,000 students. Temple University is among
the nation's largest provider of professional education (law, medicine,
podiatry, pharmacy, dentistry, engineering, and architecture) offering over 300 academic degree program. The Department of Physical
Therapy is seeking applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at
the Assistant/Associate Professor rank. The position is a nine-month
appointment beginning July 1, 2013. The department at Temple University is one of the top ranked schools in physical therapy education, offering an entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy degree, a post
professional Doctor of Philosophy degree, and a recently credentialed
post-professional Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency. The program is also home to the state of the art Virtual Environment and
Postural Orientation Laboratory (https://sites.google.com/a/temple.
edu/vepo/home), which is the center of several studies funded by the
National Institutes of Health and other organizations. Faculty also enjoy joint appointments through the School of Engineering (Biomedical,
Mechanical, Computer and Electrical Engineering).
Qualifications: A PhD or equivalent degree in physical therapy or related fields such as rehabilitation science, neuroscience, or engineering is required. Individuals should have completed a post-doctoral position or have relevant teaching or research experience of greater than
three years. Demonstrated scientific contributions through a published
body of work in peer-reviewed journals are preferred as is an active
research agenda evidenced by the ability to obtain grant-funding. In
particular, individuals with research interest and experience in motor
control, motor learning, or biomechanics of human movement across
the lifespan are particularly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities: Include the development of collaborative research
activities and grant proposals, mentoring of graduate students, teaching in the entry level and post-professional degree programs, and
national service activities. Academic rank will be awarded dependent
upon experience.

Applicants must have an earned doctorate degree in So�ware Engineering,
Computer Engineering, Computer Science or closely related ﬁeld, as well as
relevant experience in so�ware engineering prac�ce.
The successful candidate must be able to contribute in several areas of
so�ware engineering process and prac�ce while providing leadership in one
of the following: computer security, networks, so�ware architecture and
design, or so�ware requirements.
