Call for Participation
The President of Ireland, Michael D Higgins will make the Official Opening Address at the 21st
annual flagship event of the IEEE Society on Social Implications of Technology (SSIT).
Focusing on European Year of Development and "Culture, Ethics and Knowledge Society", the
Preliminary Programme features 3 Plenary Panels (Technology and Development, Professional and
Research Ethics in Science and Technology, Future Internet and Smart Cities).

Scientific Programme
The Preliminary Programme published in August featured a Scientific Programme with 15 parallel
sessions featuring presenters from five continents. The Final Programme published in October will
also showcase Practitioner and Oral Presentations sharing field experiences and lessons learnt.
IEEE ISTAS 2015 will provide a multi-disciplinary forum for practitioners, engineers, entrepreneurs,
philosophers, policy makers, researchers, social scientists, technologists, and polymaths to
exchange experiences, discuss the implications of achieving the Knowledge Society around the
world and develop relationships with potential partners for future collaboration.
