development too is necessary as
is R&D in the political, legal, and
ethical dimensions of this kind of
human evolution.
This kind of human information appliance, as a tactical intelligence/combat soldier, furthermore
imbedded within a platoon of like
HIAs that are a combined HIA
cloud, that itself is networked
to other HIA clouds and local,
regional, and national command
HQs, to form an extended godcloud now allows us to posit the
notion of extremely compressed
time and space where tactical
and strategic thought and operations begin to merge. Consider
merely the tactical environment
of a firefight for such a platoon for
a moment. The platoon is an HIA
cloud and the goal is to achieve
superior situational awareness
with a temporal advantage that can
allow it to increase its probability of survival, according to present models, to a very significant
degree. This cloud has the capability to collect an exponentially
superior amount of environmental
data about itself, and very importantly, about its enemy. As the data
comes in, the cloud in real time,
can via the large array of parallel
processing in its networked CPUs
(again, networked to redundant
systems in the larger god-cloud
for reliability and redundant survivability) begin to immediately
yield more robust probabilities for
impending immediate decision
events that correspond to present
and/or future actions. In this sense
the HIA platoon cloud will have
the ability to both see and model
a past-present or future event for
the purpose of more powerfully
informing tactical decision-making needs. The unit has created a
very small time machine that has
the potential to see into the future a
little bit faster than the enemy: this
may be enough for immediate tactical advantage to win the day.
Intelligence at this level of evolution will become an effective

multi-dimensional tool as the division of labor between the field and
HQ blurs. We will begin to see a
new information/intelligence model
of rapid information acquisition and
quantitative/qualitative analysis and
delivery in which the foot soldier/
HIA is connected via the IA cloud
with other IAs who are working
at the Pentagon, Langley, Bolling,
Hoover, or Ft. Meade. In a sense we
will have a single virtual analytical
cloud with shared processing and
data and looking back down to the
local platoon HIA cloud, we can
imagine that it will become smarter,
on the fly, as a result of its ability
to learn and adapt via the temporal
advantage mechanism.
Importantly, we seek to extend
the logic of this example back to
the diplomacy space. Consider
the advantages of the creation
of this kind of advanced situational
awareness at an important diplomatic event. We can reimagine the
event by substituting the combat
platoon with a contingent of diplomats/FSOs as HIAs networking to
produce a temporal mechanism to
model the opposing side(s) probable positions and moves. Some of us
are chess players and some of us are
multi-dimensional chess players,
but only one chess player to date
actually plays in the cloud with the
technology of "big data" [9].

Everyware and
Pervasive Computing
Is Only Part of the Story
How can exponential computational speed transform intelligence
activity beyond the important task
of NSA archeology in the form of
foreign document data mining [8]?
This project envisions the evolution
and ultimate application of exponentially capable computational
science and technologies, combined
with advanced human information appliance (HIA) cybernetics
to achieve situational awareness
capabilities for intelligence functions in four-dimensional political
and military intelligence spaces.

The primary hardware-softwarephilosophy objective here is the
development of schema that will
allow human decision-making
(HDM) to accommodate the orders
of magnitude of acceleration of
data analysis and corresponding
situational awareness for the purpose of superior HDM outcomes.
Again from Moreno, the reference
to DARPA's AugCog heuristic is a
compelling one for us to apply to
our own HIA intelligence scheme.
Intelligence (i.e., the activity, the
process, and various end position)
is our sole universe for this investigation and descriptive vision. As
such, our utilization and description of information and cybernetic
technologies in this paper and our
utilization of neuroscientific and
even neuroethical heuristics (necessary to the cybernetic exploration) diverge from the usual
discussions of applications to what
are ultimately kinetic types of
outcomes and events for combat/
law enforcement purposes. We
are interested here in ultimately a
state of superior situational awareness of seeing, of knowing, of
understanding... and this requires
stealth. The goal here is to achieve
not super soldiers or even super
or expendable avatars, but rather
enhanced-human intelligence producers that are, according to HIA
parameters, absolutely human and
unremarkable in most activities
and appearances, but extraordinary
in outcomes as part of an overall
intelligence cloud/netpliance.
Present best practice processes
and outcomes for intelligence are,
briefly, a combination of events
that used to be more sequestered.
Due to advances in technology and
policy (i.e., 9/11 Report recommendations on information sharing)
they have become "less sequestered" over time meaning that
they are increasingly commingled,
synthesized, and ideally forcemultiplied in outcomes. Collections and analysis (for both humint
and sigint) have been increasingly
