Underlying Technologies
& AI Industry Lingo
Given the complexity of AI, it's helpful to start at the beginning and understand
what it's really made of! Coding, a process common to all computer programs
also creates AI programs. Coding involves the creation of a written set of
multiple plans that a computer can follow using a language it understands.
These plans, known as algorithms in the code, assist a computer in performing
various tasks such as problem-solving, website creation, and video game design!
This is the main difference between AI programs and other computer programs:
they are coded differently using different algorithms! One of the most popular
coding languages is Python. It's easy to learn and has many tools that help
people build and improve AI more easily!

a Teachable Machine. Use
machine learning to train
your computer to distinguish
between two different types of

Machine Learning
AI programs require training, just like humans do. While there are a few different
ways to use algorithms for training, machine learning is most commonly used.
Machine learning, a type of AI, enables machines to improve their performance
by learning from examples (data) rather than coding them with specific
instructions. You give a machine many examples, and it " learns " by itself! For
example, if you want to make an AI that recognizes animals, you show it lots of
pictures of animals, and it learns to identify them on its own. There are a few
ways people choose to implement machine learning, which we'll talk about later,
but these are the basics of how it works!
