From its first image of a star cluster in 1990 to the now iconic images of the deep Field and the Cat’s eye nebula, the Hubble Space Telescope has profoundly altered the way we view the universe. indeed, Hubble has shown that the expansion of the universe is accelerating. But other telescopes are hard at work too, surveying the sky, black holes, and much more. Beyond these, the next generation of space telescopes is expected to expose whole new worlds. Here we take a look at some current telescopes, as well as a peek at a future telescope that will, among other things, let us see into the very distant past. 20 imagine
