y friend once told me a story about her sister’s college
interview. The interviewer asked her sister if she spoke
any languages other than English. Jokingly, my friend’s
sister replied “Java,” the popular programming language that is now
ubiquitous in the world of mobile applications, embedded systems,
and commercial and business applications. I loved this story because
I could imagine myself saying the same thing. I had learned Java,
my first programming language, when I was 11 years old.
