*	 Address (house number) and street name system used for many
municipal inventories. If this type of system is adopted, rules need
to be created to take into account: (a) multiple trees at one address,
such as side, front, right, left, rear, or median; or a numbering scheme;
(b) trees on a cross street at an address on another street; (c) trees
located at an intersection so that they are on two different streets;
and (d) estimating addresses for buildings without posted numbers.
*	 Geographic coordinates to locate the trees. The coordinates need to be
linked to street addresses if work is to be assigned or work requests
recorded in the system. Since most street trees have street addresses
already assigned to them, a manager should consider and decide
whether or not collecting geographic location for each tree is necessary.

Note: With this method, the planting sites are numbered
in the direction of traffic flow. Also, not all planting sites
have a tree.

Detailed Location-Other Than Street Trees

When trees are inventoried in a park, campus, or private landscape, a street
address system will not work effectively. Therefore, a different system is
required. Each tree needs a unique identifier in the database; planting sites
are not usually inventoried. Standard attributes are:
*	 Plotting on a map or aerial photograph, either manually or digitally.
*	 Geographic location using X and Y coordinates, latitude and longitude,
or northing and easting, depending on which system is used.
*	 Distance and direction from fixed reference points.
