O F T H E Y E A R BATHROOM SPACE EXPECTATIONS Designer comes through for a couple whose first choice was not a match THE SECOND PROPOSED DESIGN WAS A CHARM for a couple in St. Louis who wished for a modern, luxury bathroom with more space. After initially working with a design/build firm that didn't understand their needs, they hired Dana King of Next Project Studio. "At first the clients were discouraged and didn't see how their requirements could be met,"said the designer. "By capturing dead space and applying modern approaches to the layout, we created a design in a way others could not envision. The clients were simply blown away." CHASING CHALLENGES The couple's main requirement was to enlarge the master bathroom, which King and her team did by eliminating a walk-in closet that closed in the bathroom entrance, rerouting the HVAC, reconfiguring the cabinet layout and borrowing space from the guest suite. "The guest suite was not compromised," said King, "and in fact we achieved a larger guest bath shower and captured the former hall window so there was no loss of light. Both bathroom spaces were enhanced by the new layout." 46 Kitchen & Bath Business / SEPTEMBER 2016 / KBBONLINE.COM / The official publication of KBIS (KBIS.com)http://www.KBBONLINE.COM http://www.KBIS.com
